No Child Left Behind
The No Child Left Behind project is a multilingual training kit that runs both from a website and from a CD. Content for the training is in English, Spanish, Latvian, Polish and Romanian. This was commissioned for the European Comission via Westminster City Council. Design was by Jon Spencer.
A multilingual version of the SqooDriver content management system was used to alow each of the partner countries to input their versions of the material, co-ordinating each of the translations, and automatically produce CD and website versions.
One major challanges were to provide high level of interactivity using no server side technology for the content, only HTML and JavaScript were to be used. A slideshow type system was built using jQuery, employing unobtrusive transitions and animation. Each lesson was stored as a single HTML page containing multiple slides to make the user experience as smooth as possible and enable the printing of an entire lesson with on click on the print menu.
