21st Century Tiger

21st Century Tiger is a wild tiger conservation partnership between the Zoological Society of London and Global Tiger Patrol which raises funds for tiger conservation projects in the field.  Established in 1997, it has since become one of the top six tiger funding agencies globally and has contributed over £1 million to over 30 tiger projects in six countries worldwide.

21st Century Tiger had a static built site that was maintained by a web designer. This meant that to update the site, the changes would be communicated to the designer and the site would then be updated. The site tended to get updated infrequently due to this process and the fact that each change would incur a charge.

21st Century tiger wanted a more dynamic site with more content and to be able to keep it up to date.

The new site would provide a web based tool for editing the site with minimal technical knowledge required, and to provide a larger range of information and interactivity than the current site.

After a consultation process, an Information Architecture was agreed upon and the following features were incorporated:

  • News section with news archive
  • Project sections
  • Email subscriptions
  • Gallery with password protected sub-galleries
  • Paypal donations
  • Rotating content (images and quotes in RHS column)

The design and HTML or the original were suitable for integration with the content management system. The layout was changed slightly to improve usability within the confines of the current CSS, however no new HTML needed to be developed by Sqoo.

All content was input by 21st Century Tiger with minimal guidance from Sqoo beyond initial training which was simple enough to be given over the telephone.
